About the Practice

There are many reasons people come to counselling.

You could be going through a period of emotional distress — the loss of a job or status, the death of someone close, LGBTQ concerns, the impending breakup of a relationship or a recent breakup.

Maybe you are experiencing high levels of anxiety, depression or stress which is affecting your normal ability to cope with everyday life. Maybe you have no idea why you feel so bad, and need to explore what could be causing your distress. Try not to despair. Your life can get better.

"We can help you make sense of what's going on for you, and make the changes you need to live a better, happier life."

Dublin Counselling Service is a strictly confidential practice in the heart of Dublin City, run by accredited psychotherapists and clinical supervisors working in a humanistic and integrative way. Sessions are available in person at our Wicklow Street rooms and online by secure video call.

Our Services

Support shaped around you.

Every person who comes to us is different. We draw on a range of approaches and combine whichever best fits where you are right now.

Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy

One-to-one sessions in a calm, confidential setting — a place to talk openly, be heard, and work through whatever you're carrying, at your own pace.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help you understand the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and build practical tools you can use beyond the session.

Integrative Psychotherapy

A humanistic, integrative approach that meets you as a whole person, drawing on a range of methods rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Relationship & Couples Counselling

A supportive, neutral space to improve communication, rebuild trust and work through difficulties together — for couples at any stage.

LGBTQI+ Affirmative

Counselling that affirms who you are — a safe, accepting space to explore identity, relationships and the experiences that matter to you.

Clinical Supervision

Accredited supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists — reflective, supportive, and grounded in years of clinical practice. More below.

Who We Work With

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to face it alone.

People come to us at many different points — in distress, in transition, or simply wanting to understand themselves better. No presenting issue is too ordinary, or too complex.

  • Anxiety, depression and stress
  • Grief, bereavement and loss
  • The loss of a job or status
  • Relationship difficulties and breakups
  • LGBTQ concerns and identity

Two things to remember: mental health issues are common and treatable — and you deserve a better life.

Alan and Breda are accredited clinical supervisors offering supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and healthcare & community development workers at every stage of their career.

Supervision is a space for the supervisee to discuss and reflect on their practice and receive feedback, support and guidance from an accredited supervisor who is experienced in counselling, psychotherapy and supervision. It offers a collaborative space which is vital to the ongoing maintenance of the practitioner's competency and continued accreditation — both supervisor and supervisee are bound by the Code of Ethics and Practice of their accrediting body to monitor their work through regular supervision so that their competence as professional practitioners continues to develop. Available in person in Dublin 2 or online.
